Gov. Perdue vetoes budget; pay raises in jeopardy

Gov. Beverly Perdue announced this morning her decision to veto the state budget the General Assembly passed last week, leaving a 1.2-percent pay raise for actives and a 1-percent cost-of-living adjustment for retirees in limbo. It's now up to the General Assembly to override the veto.

Pay Raises, COLAs Included in Budget

Both houses of the General Assembly approved a budget compromise that included a 1.2-percent pay raise for active state employees and a 1-percent cost-of-living adjustment for retirees. The plan has been sent to Gov. Beverly Perdue.
