EMPAC announces endorsements for primary election

The State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) today announces bipartisan endorsements for the primary election on March 15. The endorsements are made through SEANC’s Employees Political Action Committee (EMPAC), which is a member-led subsidiary.

SEANC releases list of Top Policy Platform Objectives for 2016 session

With the 2016 General Assembly short session fast approaching, SEANC has issued its list of Top 10 Policy Platform Objectives. As in previous years, pay, retirement and health care are among the most identified issues. Opposition to privatization is highly ranked. Protecting dues deductions and SEANC access to workplaces made the list as well.

McCrory in hot water over prison maintenance contracts

Gov. Pat McCrory's problems with prison maintenance contracts only confirm what state employees have known all along, that corporations will do whatever they have to in order to get public contracts, be it in our prisons, in the Department of Transportation, in our universities or anywhere else they see a chance to fleece the taxpayers.

EMPAC Honors Dollar, Pendleton as Legislators of the Year

Action in the General Assembly is winding down, finally. The finish line is in sight, as the Senate passed an adjournment resolution on Thursday that sets Tuesday as the final day of this session. The House has yet to pass it, but is expected to do so soon. This week we thank EMPAC’s Legislators of the Year selections, Rep. Nelson Dollar and Rep. Gary Pendleton, for their hard work representing state employee concerns this session.

SEANC elects officers for 2015-2016

The State Employees Association of North Carolina elected a new slate of officers to lead the association in the upcoming year on Sept. 10-12 at SEANC’s annual convention at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
