What do you do for SEANC?
Assist members with insurance products by ensuring they are aware of all the products SEANC has to offer and how their insurance works best for them.

How long have you worked at SEANC?
The most rewarding part of my job is helping members get the products they need and informing them about products that will be beneficial in the long term. I like to explain the insurance product to the person for them to “understand” the importance of life insurance and the investment they’re making.

Were you a member prior to joining the staff? If so, where did you work?
No, I was not a member prior to working here. I relocated from Pennsylvania after working 26 years in Corrections. After leaving that career there wasn't an organization like this in PA that afforded the opportunity to have supplemental insurance to retirees at a young age.I found out about SEANC, what it stands for, how it provided benefits for Retirees and State employees, and I knew this was an organization that I could work for since I came from a blue collar workforce.

Tell us about your family:
My family relocated to NC for work and I followed to be a hands on grandmother. I have 6 grandchildren soon to be 8! I'm proud of all my children and all they have accomplished so far.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy nature and nurturing plants. I enjoy a good read and enjoy playing Scrabble or any word games.

What is an interesting fact about you that people should know?
I used to be on a power-lifting team. I benched 135 lbs, dead-lifted 283 lbs and could squat 250 lbs.

What has the pandemic taught you?
I learned to live with what I have. I stopped being wasteful and gave a lot of clothes away; material stuff doesn’t move me. I have a roof over my head, a job and my health. I’m just grateful for what I have.

What have you been doing for self-care?
Going for walks and getting outdoors.
