Join us for Lobby Day on May 6 to make your voices heard!

Mar 25, 2026

SEANC needs you to join us at the General Assembly on May 6.

This is a critical moment for state employees and retirees. As you know, legislators did not pass a state budget last year, so there were no raises or cost-of-living adjustments. We need to show up at the start of the Short Session to impress upon them that we can't wait another year.

We will gather at the State Capitol Grounds at 9 a.m. and walk to the legislature. Members should provide their own transportation there. Carpooling is encouraged. We will provide lunch.

The deadline to register is April 24.

If you can attend, please fill out our form to let us know. Then mark your calendar for May 6 and stand with SEANC at the General Assembly to make your voice heard!

Here's what to expect:

  • 9 a.m. – Meet at the State Capitol for a welcome and briefing from Executive Director Ardis Watkins, President Wendell Powell, and any special guests.
  • After the briefing, we'll walk to the Legislative Building to meet with lawmakers and push for pay raises, cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs), and better funding for the State Health Plan and Retirement System.
  • Lunch will be served back at the Capitol.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A few things to know:

  • Please ask your members to sign up using the registration link in The Scoop. We need a headcount for lunch.
  • Districts that want to help fund the event should make checks payable to SEANC and put "Lobby Day" in the memo line. Send the checks to Brenda Williams Brown.
  • Click here for a flier to promote the event.
  • We will send out talking points and maps of downtown and parking areas closer to the event.
  • Parking downtown is limited, so we strongly encourage carpooling or group transportation.
  • Members are responsible for their own travel and lodging. There is no shuttle service.
  • Restrooms are available on the Capitol grounds.

We hope to see a great turnout!
