Mission Health terminated its contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina in early October, putting the lives and financial security of the entire Asheville area at risk, including thousands of state employees like me who depend on the State Health Plan. Mission wants to increase costs to Blue Cross customers by more than five percent, and is unwilling to engage in negotiations. It’s time for cooler heads to prevail and for Mission to do what’s right for the people of western North Carolina.
