Digital Communications Specialist
The Digital Communications Specialist’s responsibilities are wide-ranging. This position will be tasked with management of the association’s website and online presence, email marketing and social media efforts. The applicant selected for this position will be enthusiastic about the association’s mission and dedicated to informing the members and the public about the State Employees Association of North Carolina.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create engaging and informative content for use on all platforms, including the website, emails, social media, and print.
- Manage the association’s social media efforts in a professional manner.
- Manage the association’s website and email marketing campaigns, including a weekly e-newsletter to all members.
- Plan and implement marketing strategies for SEANC’s insurance and other programs.
- Plan the association’s social media strategy and develop a calendar in collaboration with the communications team.
- Frequently interact with state employees and retirees from all over the state.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, political science, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years related experience
Essential Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, Linkedin
- Editing, and proofreading skills and knowledge of AP style
- Basic understanding of web design, HTML, and content management systems (knowledge of Craft CMS and Salesforce a plus)
- Excellent customer service skills; team player
- Knowledge of legislative process and state government
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and respond appropriately to time-sensitive issues.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Constant Contact or similar programs
- Working knowledge of digital advertising and analytics
- Photography and videography skills
- Graphic Design
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of balancing, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift or move objects.
- Must possess the visual acuity to work with data and figures, operate a computer, do extensive reading, operate a motor vehicle, and operate modular and automated devices from the car or the home.
